The Vines Golf Club of Reynella is a golfer’s golf club, and for those passionate about playing the game we all love there is a host of opportunities to do so.

Competitive golf, fun golf, social golf, team golf, interclub golf, golf for singles, golf for pairs, mixed golf, strokeplay, matchplay, medal rounds or Stableford. You name it, the chance is that The Vines Golf Club of Reynella offers it.

The club’s men and women enjoy competing in district events at other clubs and the thrill of representing The Vines in annual pennant and interclub competitions. Visit www.golf.org.au/southaustralia to find out more.

Two men’s teams represent the club in pennant competition, including in the Simpson Cup, the premier event. The women field teams in the A3, Cleek and Hickory annual interclub events and The Vines was one of the founder members of the Senior Pennant competition, which is open to male players aged 55 and over and female players aged 50 and over.

The club has some very good golfers – male and female – and while becoming the overall club champion may be an honour out of reach for some, accompanying events played off handicap assures that any golfer whatever their level is able to savour the special feeling that comes with lifting a trophy.

The ladies have weekly competitions on Tuesdays from 7am alternating stroke, Stableford and par formats. Likewise, the men play similar formats on Wednesdays, although once a month there are Special Guest Days where men and women members are encouraged not just to play but to bring a friend or two.

Saturday competitions are open to all 7 day members and there are social competitions each Sunday.

As well as the regular weekly competitions there are a host of Honour Board competitions to be fought for – the club’s “majors” – each carrying an accompanying trophy and the chance to ink one’s name indelibly into club history. And because The Vines Golf Club of Reynella dates all the way back to 1925, much of the silverware on offer is equally historic.

It is far from all serious, though. Social golf plays just as important a part in the club calendar and the program features its fair share of fun competitions.

The atmosphere in the clubhouse is unbeatable, and the food available from the club’s Bistro is pretty special too. With the chance to enjoy a drink and catch up with friends after golf, the bar is a popular place, especially on Friday nights with some great prizes on offer in the weekly Members’ Draw (you have to be there in person to claim your prize).

The club has an active social calendar and hosts an array of events throughout the year. Jazz afternoons, comedy nights, bingo, quiz evenings, wine dinners, fancy dress Christmas Parties, Christmas in July, Melbourne Cup lunches and annual dinners are just a few of the many events that might be enjoyed in a typical year.
