Matchplay Championships

ELIGIBILITY:  Open to Category ‘A’, ‘D’, Full Veteran and Honorary Life members. 
HANDICAPS:  Handicap Event Only:  Matchplay is played off handicap with the lowest handicapped player reverting to scratch and the difference in the handicaps played as per the stroke index. 

Championship Event:  Matchplay Championship (A, B & C Grades) is played off scratch with no handicap applicable. 

GRADES:  A, B & C Grades 
COMPETITION:  Qualifying over 18 holes on 1st Round

Qualifying over 18 holes 2nd Round

 Leading 16 players in each grade gross (‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’) after 36 holes will qualify for Matchplay.   

 First round of Matchplay on morning of Saturday [insert date]. 

HIT-OFF TIME:  The Matchplay Draw has been made in accordance with the General Numeric published in the Rules of Golf. 

 Should a player be unable to play the Match at the appointed time that player MUST forfeit the Match. 

 Quarter finals and semi-finals will be played on respective Saturdays and will be played in groups of four. 

 The finals held on Sunday [insert date] for A and B grades will be 36 holes. 1st 18 holes morning – 2nd 18 holes in afternoon.     C Grade will be played over 18 holes.  Commencement times for this day will be shown on the result sheet on the notice board within the Club lounge. 

 

ENTRY:  Competitors must nominate and payment of fee must be made at time of entry.  Entries will not be accepted after date of closing.$[insert amount] – entries close [insert date]. 
TIES:  In the event of a tie of players for 16th position, (in both championship and Handicap Matchplay) the eighth position will be decided by a sudden death play-off over holes advised by the Match Committee on the morning of the first match play series. 

 Should a match be square at the end of 18 holes play will continue until one of the players wins a hole (ie 19th, 20th, 21st etc). 

PRESENTATION:  Presentation of trophies for finalists will commence as soon as practical after the last completed match on Sunday [insert date]. It shall be the responsibility of the winning players to notify the Championship Committee or its representative of the result of the match immediately after the end of the Match. 

 

PROTESTS:  The Match Committee shall be the Championship Committee.  The Match Committee to be absolute umpire of any dispute or protest, which must be lodged in writing at the venue Clubhouse before 6.00pm on the day on which the dispute has arisen. 

 

 
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Each Match shall be played under the rules of Golf and the Local Rules of the Vines of Reynella Golf Club. 

Procedure between tee and green will be in accordance with standard Matchplay protocol with safety of players in mind.  When all four players are on the green, a player with the longest putt will with his opponent, continue the Matchplay until the hole being played is decided – only then the second pair will complete the hole. 

 

The Championship Committee requests, that out of courtesy to his opponent, a player who is unable to play the Match shall advise of their withdrawal as soon as possible. 

 

Pace of Play:   

Pace of play during this event will be achieved by marshalling with appropriate warnings and penalties.  Two warnings will be given to a group for slow play, if slow play continues then all players in the group will be penalised in accordance with the Rules of Golf.  Marshalling will be undertaken by the Match Committee or by the Pro Shop as its representative.
